Kites and Stuff

This past weekend Mom and I went to Lincoln City to visit Uncle Ryan & Auntie Diana. The sun was shining so Auntie, Mom & I went down to the beach for a little walk. There were some HUGE kites flying in the sky--very cool. I was impressed.

The giant flying lizard was my favorite.

Still pointing at the kites.

Showing Mom where the kites were.

This was taken this afternoon at Shore Acres--Mom & Dad took me there so I could burn some energy. See me running away? That's "burning off some steam" done right.

I think I was talking about Bruno (our friends' dog) in this picture. This is the face I make when I say, "BRUNO".

I'm a M-A-N!

Well, Mom finally broke down and agreed to let me get my first haircut today. FINALLY!! This mop was driving me crazy!! So, we loaded up and headed to the coolest barber shop we could find.

Yup, you know what that means!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to Wayne's Roxy Barber Shop...coolest barber shop there is.

"Just a trim, alright boss? None of this high-n-tight business."

"Yeah, yeah I know, it's a little long. I was letting my curls do their thing for a while....the ladies loved it."

"So, hear any good jokes lately?"

"I got one for ya.....A priest, a rabbi and a chicken walk into a bar....."

Snip, snip, snip.

"How's it looking from the side?"

"Wait a minute....what are those?"

"A little shorter in the back, please."

"Easy there partner....I'd like to keep them ears...."

"Not too much of the girl chaser, k? I'm kind of a chick magnet as it is."

Perfection!

Go ahead and pay the good man, Mom. I'm outta here.

How do I look?

The Past Week, In Pictures

Trying on Daddy's shoes.

An afternoon at the park.

Mowing the lawn with Uncle Ryan.

This is the face Fisher made when mom said, "Road Trip!"

A visit to the Port Orford Coast Guard Station (no longer active). This is a 36' surf boat--they are no longer used by today's Coast Guard.

We hiked down the stairs that lead from the old station to where to boat house used to be. A LOT of stairs...not an active trail anymore so, they were a little over grown so, we were only able to go halfway down. This is the view from the halfway point.

While hiking down the stairs we spooked a deer in the grass. It shot right up the face of the cliff next to us when it saw us. We stood here for a while to take in the view and then heard the sound of a whale coming to the surface to take a breath. He was down below in this little cove feeding in the kelp beds.

And now, the climb back up. I (Mom) was packing Fisher and he helped during the climb by making all of my grunting sounds for me. Seriously, with each step I took, Fisher said, "Ugh, ugh, ugh...". Like it was a lot of work for him or something...

We counted 257 steps on our climb back up and we only went halfway down. Just think of the guys that used to be stationed there that had to climb those stairs, packing gear, several times each day!

Here mom is, sucking wind on the climb back up.

The view from the top. After the climb back up the stairs we hiked around on the trails that took you out to the head and to where the viewing tower used to be. We came around a corner early in the hike and caught two people with their pants down...right off the side of the trail! Oops!.....AWKWARD! (Sorry, I didn't get a picture.)

Fisher, now on Dad's back, goofing around in the backpack.

Too cute.

Petting Zoo

Here are a couple more pictures from our adventure at Wildlife Safari--these are of Fisher at the petting zoo, getting acquainted with the goats. The goats' enthusiasm was a little too much for Fisher....

A Trip Through Africa

Yesterday we took a mini road trip over to Winston and Roseburg, Oregon. After lunch and a walk through Roseburg, we headed over to Wildlife Safari in Winston. Wildlife Safari is a drive-through zoo where you stay in your car and the animals run wild through the park. The park is divided into sections representing all different areas of the world. We started in Africa where we saw wildebeasts, lions, zebras, giraffes, rhinos, cheetas, etc. Then in the Americas we saw grizzly bears, elk, black bears, turkeys and more. We also saw Siberian Tigers, hippos, aligators and much more. A fun trip, maybe enjoyed a little more by Mom and Dad than by Fisher :) (He was much more excited about getting to sit in the front seat of the car and push all of the buttons he could find up there than watching what was happening outside of the window). Here are a few pictures from the trip.

"Fisher, this is Ostrich."

"Ostrich, this is Fisher"
(I think the Ostrich experience was a little too close of an encounter for Fisher)

Walking around the Safari Park.

Our little Monkey.

Hanging out the window to see all of the animals.
(Sorry the car was so dirty)

Giraffes right by the car!! I also got another picture of two giraffes that were, let's say, spending some "quality time" together. But, I didn't feel it was Blog appropriate so, you won't find it posted here.
